GIC regularly undertake campaigns around welfare issues relevant to residents of North Edinburgh. Presently GIC are undertaking a benefits and tax credit take-up campaign. This is in response to recent government figures that show up to £6 billion pounds is left unclaimed throughout the UK in four benefits alone – Income Support, Income based Jobseekers Allowance, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

In the past nine months GIC has successfully assisted their clients in claiming over £1.5 million in previously unclaimed benefits.

As part of our campaign work GIC visit community groups to raise awareness of relevant issues, produce articles for the local press and liaise with appropriate organisations and authorities. GIC can also provide advice and assistance to other local groups who wish to undertake a campaign on a specific issue.
