| Fuel Poverty & Energy Efficiency
Granton Information Centre has a dedicated fuel poverty worker, whose main aim is to try to keep people warm in their homes. Technically speaking, people are said to be suffering from fuel poverty when they need to spend 10% or more of their income on their gas and electricity bills.
We can help you by providing simple and effective advice on how to save energy and reduce bills. We can explain how to set central heating timers and thermostats to use as little energy as possible but still keep your home warm. We provide advice and support on different methods to pay bills, and can intervene when debts or other problems occur with accounts. We will also explain what grants are available to improve the energy efficiency of your home, and help with applications. We can also help solve problems of dampness and disrepair in rented homes.
We provide both appointments, a drop in service and home visits for local residents. We are also happy to give talks and other energy efficiency awareness raising sessions for local groups and clubs including Energy Efficiency Bingo.
