Training and Education

GIC’s Training and Education Officer provides sessions for local groups on a range of rights based issues. Recent sessions have included:

  • Introduction to Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits
  • Housing Benefit
  • Rights of Carers
  • In Work Benefits and Tax Credits
  • Pension Credits
  • Benefits for young people

GIC also advise, support and train management committees of local organisations on their role and responsibilities as employers. Recent training sessions have included:

  • Contracts of employment
  • Paternity, adoption and maternity leave
  • Dispute resolution in the work place
  • Fixed-term work and flexible working
  • Discrimination
  • Roles and responsibilities of directors of companies limited by guarantee
