Since 1984, Granton Information Centre (GIC) has evolved to reflect the needs of the residents of North Edinburgh. We now provide free, impartial advice and information on a range of issues and by a variety of methods. The result is a vital service that is greatly valued by local people and local agencies.
The demand and take up of our services increases every year and demonstrates a real need for the work we undertake. Our annual statistics for 2003 -2004 show we dealt with 3076 clients with 5760 enquiries and generated an income of £494,314.26 in previously unclaimed benefits.
In the financial year 2003-2004 GIC received funding from The City of Edinburgh Council, The New Opportunities Fund, European Social Fund, Help the Aged and Scottish Gas. Without this support GIC would be unable to provide services to the residents of North Edinburgh.
